This golden maned lion is recovering from a rather scrappy episode with on of his lionesses after mating. She had caused him several pretty serious slashes. From the look of his face, this wasn't the first time. The crop might have been a bit looser, but the image really locks in on the activity. Besides there's no zoom ring on my 500. This is full-frame except for an oof sliver at the bottom. As this is a slide scan I have no detailed exposure data. Hope you like my image. C and C welcome, I'm here to learn. - John

I would agree with Peter, given you were locked into the tight crop, moving left would have given him room in front w/o sacrificing any important details.
Hi John Love the image as presented Small tweaks suggested would make an improvement but tough to come up with them at the time the image was made particularly hand holding.
I think you captured the moment and came up with one fine image !!!! Big Congrats !!!

Granted a slight more space left may have improved....but no matter, this is nice
for when you have very little choice and may be thinking really fast
