    I photographed this large Striped Owl a few nights ago.



    Nikon D200
    Nikkor 600mm f/4 AF-S
    Vivitar 285-HV full power

    1/250 - f/8 ISO 320

    Good catch, I guess you did fix the red eye from flash?
    Wish there was not so much foliage in front, but at least the main part of the bird is in the clear.
    Great face, it doesn't look disturbed by you.

    Love the overall feel Octavio Good use of flash .. got to love those Vivitars !! Agree on the foliage but doesn't detract from the image !!!! Big Congrats !!!

    Great flashwork, it has brought the detail and colours very well. How are those eyes. Great capture.

    Great catch Octavio. I agree about the vegetation but still you got a good eye contact.

    Thanks for the comments guys. I'm not a fan of the perch either, but that's all I got for now.

    Fabs, yes I did fix the red eye.

    I am not fussed about the perch - but check out HOW TIGHT it is grabbing the nearly impossibly thin branches. :)

    I wish for more room to the right. An awesome owl image man! Good eye repair! What genus is this?

    Great use of flash and I love the black BG, it really brings the bird out.

    It's a Rhinoptynx clamator. This is a recent change, this species was also formerly placed in Asio and Pseudoscops genuses.
