In Nature, as well as in humans, the role of a father is sometimes underrated. Fathers are a very important part of raising a family, be it chick or baby. I want to honor my departed father, I owe him a lot and is always present in my thoughts, and also honor all the fathers here, have a great Father's Day :)

Thanks Fabs and a lovely image to go with the kind words. I hope that I have the same impact on my boys as your father has obviously had on you. I am sure he is proudly watching and smiling as you remember him this day.

Thanks Fabs for remembering all the fathers here on BPN, and honoring the memory of yours.

Two years ago my father also passed away after a long and generous life.

And now a brief story, which I've shared with only a few very close friends. It seems fitting on Father's Day to tell it here.

A few days after his funeral, I went to my favorite local spot for some reflection.

As sundown neared, a great egret landed near me on some branches in the water.

It stayed for a moment, took this bow that you see, turned and flew away, as an actor leaving the stage.

I often wonder if this wasn't my father's final farewell; his way of passing the torch to me.

Thanks, Kobus, no clue, that's how it looked like in the original and I think it's known as Nikon blue.

Bill, your story brought tears to my eyes, very sensitive today. I would have also taken it as a sign. I'm sure they are in a better place.

Thanks Fabs. Super comp, with good placement in the frame. The leaf, a token for all the dad's.

Bill - touching story, and there's always a sign for each event in our lives.

Bill, I have no doubt that you interpreted this correctly. Thank you both so much for sharing.

Great capture of this purple martin, I like that he carries some nesting material. I might crop even more off the bottom to make it a pano.

Thanks for sharing this story, Bill!

    HI Fabs (and Bill)

Very sad to hear that, but the warm memories must and shall remain. Your image is gorgeous and is expected from you, nothing less. :) Have a great day!
