    Default Snow Bunting on Ice

I just went through some files from last winter and found this one. I remember quite well how cold it was and lying on the ice without moving and waiting for the birds to come closer didn't really help. :)

Lots of big plusses here: soft light, low perspective, lovely bird and colors, great sharpness. The only thing that bugs me is that it appears that the bird is leaning away from you....

I agree with Artie here about the body angle, but to me it still works wonderfully as the Head Angle is great I actually like being able to see some of the bird's back. Light, low angle, pose, detail, colors and exposure are all perfect IMO.
    Cogratulations!

Judging by the bird's left foot being half a step in front of the right, I agree with Arthur's comment. Additionally, I would have liked to see the BG in a slightly different tone (perhaps light gray?) to discern the bird's outline. Very fine image. Job well done.

Thanks for the feedback. I know, it's not the ideal body position. What I like about it is the look-back pose and that it shows more of the back plumage.

    Hey Axel,
I really like the nice HA with the look back...... Colors and exposure are very nice too as is the angle.......I did get a good chuckle form a few of the other comments above and have come up with 2 new terms......we have the HAP....and now I can't chhose between the BAP (body angle police).....or my personal preference the LP (lean police)....just having a bit of fun with you Artie:p! Happy fathers day! Man you guys are tough in Avian!

Hey Roman, I am tough because I critique each image as if it were my own. And BAP should be STISPJ police. On second thought, BAP is a lot simpler! And is is rare that a bird on the ground is leaning away from you.

I remember this bird from last year, really pretty. The snow makes a great backdrop and lots of detail in the feathers. Is it leaning away or an optical illusion from the head turn?

Lying on the ice really paid off, as this is a great angle of capture. Well exposed, on both the bunting and BG. I like the softer colour of the BG.

To me this is a masterpiece. I don't see many of these images so for me they are a treat. I really like the way how you have render the white snow and the white on the bird.
