    Default Black Skimmer

Another photo from my So. Cal. trip. This Skimmer gave me a good head angle along with nice wing position in some nice light.

One heck of a sweet shot Doug not an easy pose to capture especially without clipping the wings..

    Doug:

Very nice, with good exposure, sharp, nice HA and angle in frame.

Because the bird is angling down to the right, I might add just a touch of more space at the bottom and right if you have it.

    Thanks for sharing.

Now, this is an angle of a skimmer I havent seen captured before. Good job on the exposure Doug, sharp and that eye shows up nicely. Your comp works well for this angle. Well done.

I like the pose, details and exposure control in this one. Maybe a bit more room top and bottom?

Axel, I had originally cropped this 4x6 along the lines of what you're suggesting. I changed my mind and decided to feature the bird a little more prominently by going 5x7.

Great exposure, looks like no EV? The lights have a great tone and texture, well done.

Thanks Jeff. If you mean no exposure compensation, it's a manual exposure so EC doesn't show up in the techs. I generally overexpose my whites by 1/3 to 2/3 of a stop in camera to get more detail in the blacks of Skimmers. Then I pull back the whites in PP.
