    Default Monitor Recommendation, HELP!

Sorry about a question that has been asked several times. I've read all the threads and am confused somewhat. Looking for a 22 inch monitor (about the size that will fit) that I will use for photography and the occasional movie in my home office. Have been working with a Dell 17 inch for sometime which I am happy with because the prints from the photo lab I use match exactly what's on my screen without any calibration. However, it's time I "Grow Up" and get something a little more impressive looking. Currently using Photoshop and Lightroom and shoot sports, birds, butterflies and misc events. Monitors of interest so far:

Dell 2209WA - however I can only find the 2209W and don't know what the difference is.
NEC Multi Sync - Not sure which one but the P221W-BK 22 appears popular and on the high end of
    what I want to spend.
Dell 2408WFP - May be too big for the area

All HELP will be greatly appreciated!

Look for SIPS panels such as the HP LP2065, resolution should be 1600X1200, the cheaper wide screen 1440X900 or 1680X1050 screens are usually TN or SPVA technology which is not true 8Bit (6Bit + lookup table), it works but not great for color accuracy.

    Hi Leon,

I agree with Arash in that you should look for an S-IPS panel otherwise you'll be suffering with very poor vertical viewing angles. This site may be of help:

    http://www.clarkvision.com/photoinfo...n_LCD_monitor/

and this one will give you a list of which models contain S-IPS panels:

    http://www.widescreengamingforum.com..._Monitors_List

as well as this one where you enter S-IPS in the search screen:

    http://www.flatpanelshd.com/panels.php

Be aware that the HP LP2065 is an inexpensive S-IPS panel and some have complained of brightness variations from one side to the other and poor black rendition.

I'll add another bit of info. There have been reports of manufacturers releasing some models with S-IPS panels, getting good reviews and then switching these same models to inferior panels. In some cases trying to get information on what type of panel is installed can be difficult. Welcome to the digital world. :)
