    Default Wild Turkey

I finally figured out how to get the tom to face me - just put a hen between the tom and myself!

Photo made march this year in Carmichael (Sacramento County) California. All comments welcome.

Hey Doug, welcome to BPN! I was wondering when you were going to chime in here! Nice Tom! I really like the full frame gobbler! For critiques, it is nice to know what your EXIF was for the shot so could you post this? Also, I'm sure that you are aware of the maximum size for posting here, but just in case you aren't, you can post at 1024X800, 200kb. This is a big size and some posters opt for 800X800, which is what I prefer for viewing here. Looking forward to more of your nice work here!:)

welcome Doug! I like the tight crop in this and the plumage detail is exquisite.

Few of my lenses are chipped so a lot of my EXIF data is missing.

Camera: Leica R8 with DMR digital back @ ISO 400
Lens: not sure, could have been Leica 560mm f/6.8 or more likely 280mm f/4 with extender
    Support: shoulder stock & monopod
Exposure: IIRC, 1/3000 sec @ f/6.8 or so
Metering: manual, fine-tuned with the histogram
    File type: RAW

Great light, iridescence and details. It would be nice if the bird would look into the image but then the iridescence would be gone.

The iridescences of the feathers and the eye contact on this fantastic bird make thi simage for me. Composition works very good and the sharpness hurts! Hope to see more of your work here and big wellcome :-)
