here's a lesson for you....learn from other peoples' mistakes!!!:o did not check the ISO before i started shooting on saturday and this was one of my first images. i was wondering why my shutter speeds were so high....duh. i had been playing around indoors at night with a new lens and had set the ISO on 6400. as far as the f/stop, i like to throw the bg completely out of focus for a dreamy feel. truly, that's what i was trying to achieve!!:)

    D300, sigma 150, f/2.8, 1/8000s, ISO 6400, no flash.

i applied gaussian blur to the bg to counter the noise. noise reduction would not work on the amount that was there. masked the in focus flower tips from all work except a little sharpening.

comments and critiques welcome and appreciated.

    Hi Doctor,
I like the selective focus and the play on the depth of field...the color rendition on the flowers are good, would recommend on cropping just a little from the bottom, up to and just below the first knot on the steam...also run a low level pass of noise reduction in the background...

Wow! A macro shot at 1/8000 sec :D

Lovely colors none the less ! I agree that it could use some cropping.

What were you thinking Harold:) 6400.!!!! Great colours and focus nonetheless. Might crop a little from the top. Like the colour of the orange.
