    Kobus:

Well exposed, sharp. Not much doubt about the light angle on this one (shadow pointer!) Despite being well to your right, I find the lighting effective. Perhaps a bit of fill reflected off the ground. It looks like a pretty barren place.

HA could be a bit back towards us.

Super clean BG. Light a bit from the back but has worked well! Wish for a slightly better HA. Nice and sharp Kobus!

I like this, Kobus. The uniform earth/BG highlighted the bird well. The lighting works well and the shadow is a lovely compositional element echoing the dark lines in the cap and folded wing and tail. Head angle is not an issue for me here. Well done.

I love the comp including the shadow, light work very well for me although light angle could've been just a tad better. Noce pose, detail, and as I am a big fan of lapwing I can only enjoy this image! Congratulations!

Super comp, and I like the inclusion of the shadow. Good light and detail, and overall a great image.

Good details, light and good-looking specimen. Head angle has been mentioned. Could you have moved to your left?

the shadow adds much - ditto light angle but your exposure and detail are good! great shot Bud, something different, most of us would've tried for a close-up.

Randy - Pretoria is far from barren - lovely lush bushveld and lots of rain. I think this was probably taken on a dirt road or just a grassless patch of field? Kobus? :)
