Great looking bird. I would have liked the tail to go to the corner. Image seems a bit dark on my screen. Also a bit busy with all the twigs. Maybe take out a few if you don't mind. Thx for sharing. With a bit of tlc it will be very nice

I will try and give it a go tonight if someone does not beat me to it hehe.
No need to be embarrassed. We all learn. Your photography is good and you have a good eye. The photoshop skills will come in time. Just do a lot of reading. Google: photoshop cloning tutorial......I'm sure something will pop up.
Image looks better but I would even light it up more. Just be careful of noise and halos when you do it.
    Good effort well done

I echoe what Kobus said, we are all here to learn :-)
I prefer the second version with the levels adjustment. The BG is a bit distracting but I do not mind with such a colorful bird that stand by itself. Birds with long tails are difficult from a compositional poit of view. If you include all the tail in the image, the head ends in the center of the frame or with not enought room at the right. In a case like this one (and in a perfect world, of course) I would go for a composition with more room at the right and at the bottom, placing the bird (and the complete tail) in the left, upper square of the frame. Very cool species

Harshad, your repost looks good, and I like the colours on the parakeet. He didnt choose the best perch, as his tail clashes with all the lines/branches/ and pieces of grass. A good lesson to practise your cloning.

Like the pose of the bird. I would also clone out the larger brown twig on top of the bird.
    Keep up the effort!

Harshad, Listen carefully. Go to my web site. Go to the Bulletin Archives. Do a search for "Protect and Defend." I used those techniques, the Clone Stamp and the Patch Tool, to eliminate the two sticks coming out of the birds back. I upped the contrast a bit, and cropped to have the tail pointing out of the corner. All of the above (plus tons more) is covered in our Digital Basics PDF File. It was written just for folks like you: https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=252

The bird is unbelievably beautiful. I love the grass head it is holding. All in all a fine image.

ps: What is the black thing???

Hey Arthur I am so glad I got the DB some time ago!
I never red this part about ''Protect and Defend'' but man this is a fantastic tool! I just gave it a try in PS CS3 and I am very pleased with the results I obtained. I thing though, I never found the Feather option, I guess is better to use Refine Edge which is like the Feather tool but improved, am I correct?
    You are certainly the Guru!
Thanks for sharing all this tips at a bargain price! jc

    Hey Harshad.

What a striking bird. Love the combination of colors here, the extremely long tail (for such a small parakeet) Arthur's repost is rocking and you must be proud of this great image. jc

Thanks for your kind words JC. Protect and Defend was in the last update. And yes, Refine Edge is 1000 times better than Feather. See the tutorial in Educational Resources. Lastly, YAW.

Artie's repost is definitively the best, removing that stick from the BG really changed the whole image. Congratulations as I love the natural moment, BG, light, colors and species!
