    This image was created with the Nikon D300 SB800 flash ISO 200 7.1 at 1/80
    Back lighting was a problem but sometimes you just got to work with what you got.

    Hey Rod, You did a fabulous job with the lighting and with the flash. Do you have any more room to the right?

    Withover the shoulder images I prefer the head square to the imaging sensor rather than angled back towards you. I have not seen this species in several decades much less had a chance to photograph it.

    This is a very interesting bird.
    Love the way the vegetation is framing the bird but find the twig on the back of the bird a bit distracting.

    Rod:

    Excellent capture. I took the liberty of adjusting the luminosity and contrast of the background, as I found the bright green leaves behind the bird detracted from the subject. I also reduced the luminosity of the perch a bit to reduce the flashed look.

    Just my take on your excellent image.

    Great find and good discussion above. Another vote for the removal of the branch sticking out of the back.

    I would have left the leaves in the upper left in the image and would only remove the branch.
