D300 70-300VR @82 hand-held. Manual exposure mode, all natural light. ISO 800 1/1000s f7.1. Didn't have my 300 prime with me and the 200-400 is kind of heavy and hunted too much :)

Cropped and tried a vertical crop. I think the trees makes the background more interesting than just a blue sky.

    What say you?

    Thank you !

Hi Desmond - Nice pose - love the wings and the fanned out tail - great sharpness as well.

IMHO - think it would work better as a Horizontal rather than vertical. That said I so like the trees in the BG.

Hmmm - wonder what others will say???

Hi Desmond I think this works The oof trees on the bottom give it a neat look and not many flight verticals work but this does.

Might be my favorite form your swallow images Great detail, sharp, good flight pose and excellent feel !!!! ... btw I had never paid much attention to that lens and assumed it would not have a good AF ... so much for that :)

Hi Desmond, Love the pose and feel of this. Agree with you that the trees make for a more interesting BG than plain blue sky. I think the vertical crop works well here, could maybe use a bit more room on the right. Congrats

    Hi Desmond,
This works for me, the oof trees in the background gives the capture a bit of character...:D I like the sharp details and the color rendition on your bird...looking forward to your next one...

Very nice Desmond, I like the vertical crop, and the foliage at the bottom. Unusual, but I think it works very well.

Very nice, Desmond. I think the oof trees add to the image. Wish my swallow images were any where nearly as fine.

Beautiful sharp flight image Desmond and to me the composition is spot on.
As others have said a feel good image.
    Cheers: Ian Mc
