    Default Screamin' Peregrine

I just got back from a short trip to Southern California with Jim Neiger. Our target bird was the Peregrine Falcon, which can fly at speeds in excess of 200 mph! With the help of some photographer friends, we located a nest where the 2 chicks had just fledged. The birds were very approachable and put on quite a show. It was a technically challenging shoot for a number of reasons; fast-moving subjects, low light, varied BGs (although not in this image), and of course a steep cliff to photograph from. In spite of the challenges, we had a great time!

    Hey Doug,
Sweet! I think the BG tone actually helps the falcon stand out even more! Defintely paid off for the effort.

Doug, excellent detail, good head turn with eye contact, and love the open beak. Stands out nicely from the clear BG. I would maybe lighten the eye a bit.

Doug, I like the open beak, eye contact and the details on the feather. Excellent exposure and control in low light condition.

Cool pose, eye contact and details. The open beak adds to it. I might increase the color temperature a bit.
