This was the best angle I could get, as I was shooting from a hide, and he was below coming out of a river. I have full length shots of him, with a fish. I decided on this, as its a closer crop. Taken in the Kruger National Park.

Huge beast. The light conditions were not the best, don't know how early or late you can get into the park, but the very early and very late light is usually the best as far as image quality and contrast.

    Hi Stuart,
That's quite a set of claws he has. I'd remain in the hide too :). Nice pose. I'd like to see the full tail as it seems to end a little abruptly as presented. Not sure where I'd personally crop off the tail on one of these though. A full body shot seems like a good candidate for a pano.

    Hi Stuart,
It looks like a big guy. I agree about the light. However, I would have definitely clicked. You may try using fill flash.

    Cheers,

Light has been mentioned (I too would have taken the image). As far as an alternate crop, you might consider a portrait right between front and rear leg since tail is cut already.
