    Default Surfing U.S.A.

    Hello everyone :)
This is my very first post on BPN. Still not 100% sure of how things work here. If I make a booboo, hopefully a moderator would come along and correct me.

    D300, 300f4, 1.7x, 1/1600s, f6.7, -1 EV, ISO 400, hand held, no flash.

I was sitting flat at the edge of the pond so the camera might have been tilted just a tad. I would have rotated it about 4-5 degrees CCW but the I've already cut off the wing tips, didn't want to lose any more. I did think about cropping maybe 5% off the bottom but decided not to in order to preserve a bit of the reflection and keeping the fish a bit further from the edge. Please make a comment, good or bad, I'd like to hear it. All C&C would be appreciated.

Great timing and fish. Good EXP and sharpness. Clipping the wings is a big no-no and having the bird flying away from you rather than towards you is a negative.

It would be difficult but positive to add canvas top and rebuild the missing wingtips....

Welcome to BPN Andy. Great timing on the Osprey catching his meal. You have covered your own nits regarding rotation, horizon and clipped wings. I agree with Artie that it would be better for the subject to be flying towards you. Keep them coming.

Welcome to BPN, Andy! Nice first post. I like the action and wing position and agree with Artie regarding wing tips and direction of the bird. Keep them coming!

Thank you. Somehow I found the Beach Boys song fitting with the image. :)
