I photographed this today in Cape Coral, FL. I think this is George of George and Gracie fame. A pair of egles that have been nesting in this tree for over 15 years. Was at least one chick in nest. mom was on other side of tree in the shade and deeper in the tree. Sun was harsh as it was about 11:00 AM. Used my Sony A100 with a Sigma 50-500mm lense. Data=f/6.3, 1/500, +0.3 ev, ISO 250, 500mm. Thanks for looking , John

    John:

Like the outspread wings and the HA with the eye contact. It looks like it could use a little contrast adjustment due to the harsh light. I added a little midtone contrast to the image and just a little sharpening.. Hope you like it..

Looks like a flasher John !!! ... actually is raising the feather temp to kill parasites !!!

About all you can do with the harsh light !!! Would suggest when your lining up to avoid branches coming out of the bird's head ... other than the one branch you did well with bg !!! Repost does have a little more umph !!!

John, I do like the capture and especially the eye contact. Agree with previous comments, but I find that adding contrast only adds to the harsh lighting issue. What I prefer to do in this situation is to lower the contrast (with a curves adjustment) and use selective saturation to make the image pop a little more. I also did a little selective sharpening on the bird only.

As always, this is just my personal take and is presented for the sake of discussion.

Love the pose and the eye contact - As mentioned Harsh light reposts do improve a little - but best to try and get as much right in camera as possible. Early morn and Late afternoon light is the best - or if you dont want to get out of bed early - a overcast day will help.
hope you get some more chances with George.
