Green Heron at Gilbert Water Ranch (Gilbert, Arizona)
This heron is now about 2 weeks old and starting to move around a bit. There is a small stream between the bird and I and he is deep in a lot of vegetation. I found a "window" in the brush where I could get a clear shot and waited for him to move into the "window". When he did, he gave me a nice surprise with a big yawn. Hard to believe this gamely fellow will mature into one of the prettiest herons in the pond.
I chose f6.3 as to minimize the background behind the heron. The shot is pretty clean as I only had to stamp out a small branch near the open mouth.

Neat pose captured, great to see the tongue, too. I agree, it is hard to imagine that he is going to look pretty some day. :) It looks as if it is nearly impossible to get a clean view of this guy. I would sharpen the bird more, tone down the highlights and wish the branch were not in front of the feet.
You made the best image possible from where you were but as Axel noted, there are lots of serious problems. The filtered light bothers me the most. Love the yawn.
