    Default Field Sparrow on Thistle

I had some fun with sparrows this morning and even saw a life bird, a Blue Grosbeak, which was not cooperative, though. I like the OOF thistles in this one and am wondering what you think about it.

Love the background and the singing pose. The open face of the flowers makes it for me. Excellent composition.

    dear axel,

I am not expert but i just had a quick thought in my mind for this frame and i made a little change.
Your purpose you wrote for OOF thistles look nice but if this would be in vertical frame i think it would look better.

    ran a H&S
    Highlights
    20% | 30% | 30%

    Color Correction +20
    Midtone Contrast -20

Then cropped verticle and added a bit canvas clone on extra top

Please dont mind but this attachment is not for cirituqe but to know if i am in correct path or not.

    plz discuss

Lovely bg serves well to set the mood for this sweet image.

Thanks for the repost, Mital! I thought about a vertical crop, too, but wanted to try something different to include more habitat and give it more depth. The colors of your version look a bit too saturated on my monitor.

thanks Axel and yes as per the purpose it gives a good look but then again giving it H&S would give it bit more depth to me.

My eye first goes to the beautiful red flower then the oof background so it really does not work for me as the bird is third point of contact. The colors of the bird are gorgeous

    Hi Axel......my friend! :)
I know this is not appropriate forum for this kind of edit, but I was
playing with a more blurred but recognizable bg and a slightly
less bright/saturated green. Well, the play continued to this.

I kind of like the oval.....sort of.
Please forgive the extensive modification :)

Thanks, Dave! Cool idea, that would fit perfectly in the OOTB forum.

two things that catch my eye are the highlighted stalks of the thistle and the thistle merging with the bird's tail. the exposure and detail are perfect!! and i love the pose and perch.

I LOVE the original post, great comp, light, natural moment, detail, colors and atitude, I would only suggest to tone down the bright OOF plants in the BG.
    Congratulations!

Hey Ax, I like all three versions but prefer the ORIG post. I like the o-of thistles but the sharp red one makes it for me. Good work with the L-BHA.

Axel, good enviromental image, and I like his perch thistle opened towards you. Lovely soft light, with pastel colours. Well captured.

The addition of the extra space makes this image for me.

    Very nice image.
I also prefer your version. Love the open bill. and clean BG. The almost perfect alignment of the red blossom on one of the thirds makes this one for me.
