    taken at our cabin in Newfoundland. Sony a700, 70-400 sony lens at 250 mm,f5.6, 1/40s, iso 800, +0.7.

    Hi Gene - great details - although on my screen looking a little too sharp. Feels a little tight as well - could just be my tastes though
    Like the pose and HA - Did well for 1/40th - shutter speed a little slow for that focal length - though you have pulled it off nicely.
    The bright spots in the BG are a little distracting - could tone them down in p.s.

    Here's a little thing I do sometimes to help visualize what the BG is going to look like - I throw the lens completely out of focus to see what it looks like.

    Agree with Mr. Peters' assessment of your image Gene,
    I like the sharp eye and head angle. the background is pleasing and helps showcase your bird...:cool:

    Gene - I like the HA and the pose a lot. The bg is nice except for the bright spot but that can easily be fixed.
    Lance's tip on visualizing the bg is neat.:)

    Nice looking bird, agree it is a bit too sharp and tight crop.
    Other than that, a pleasing image.

    Good point about the lens oof.
