These are Red Headed Finches. The male with the red, and the female without. This was taken at a friends house, around a feeder. I thought of removing the small branch above the head of the one on the left, but thought it tucked her in nicely.

Nice shot Stuart, I do not mind the small twig at all :) to get three like makes the shot for me, I like the crop also :)

Very nice! Lovely poses, species, light, detail, colors, great HA in the three of them, the only thing I would suggest is to clone out the broken little branches in the main logg.
    Congratulaitons!

Good job catching the three together with decent head angles and good DOF.
Branches dont bother me since they are not in the way and it is a tree after all :)

Great getting catchlight on all three birds and the single red face is right where it should be if I were to pose them (in the middle). I don't mind the small branches

    Sturart:

Lots of fun. From a comp. side, the only thing that bothered me a bit was that I couldn't see where the branch joins the trunk. This is a minor point, but might be interesting to see it included if you have it in the original, and including it doesn't unbalance the comp in other ways.

    Love the headangles!

Thank you all so much for the kind words.

Randy, I do have the branch joining the trunk in the original, and your observation makes sense. My reasoning was that if I included it, it left too much space at the botttom.

Its always a juggling act, and you have to decide what works best, but I did find myself looking for the junction!

great 3some Stu! I love that all are pin sharp. the branches don't distract for me, but I kind of see the point Randy was making.

    still super shot!

Great to have all in focus and good head angles. I also like the details and light. Both crops work for me but I would try to get more details in the shadows.
