    Default Northern Icon - Moose

A very patient giant of the woods. This guy was very accommodating of us next to him.

Notice the hole in his right ear ... healed well :)

Shot with Canon MkIII, 500mm f4, at 1/640, f8, handheld in canoe.

    Thanks for looking :)

Love the head turn and the bland, avuncular expression. Very nice!

Super comp, and love the head turn, together with the drooling water from the mouth. The low angle works well too.

A nice basic COMP with a good look back head turn as mentioned. The horizon line is a bit distracting, as is the shadow on the the face,Perhaps lightening the shadow a bit would improve it. (Not much that you could do about the horizon line in a canoe....)

Great head turn back and habitat. I love the expression on his face and eyes and the spotlight effect of the light.

I love the backwards glance he is giving you. Looks as if he is asking you if his pose was good enough! I agree that the shore line is less desirable, but what can you do? Perhaps darkening it might help?

judging by the hole in the ear he'd welcome rather being shot at with this 'Canon' than the previous one ;)
strong comp and nice detail here! would love to see these giants up close one day. anybody want to trade places - a month in South Africa for a month in the Yukon?? ;)
