Got this image a while back, while I was taking photographes of a Redshank, this little guy came along, and got very close to the hide.

This is one muddy beak. :) I like the angle, details and complementing BG and would remove the sheen on the bird's left leg.

Looks like he has seen you Danny, nice 'at work' shot and I agree with Axel in that the highlight on the birds left leg is slightly distracting and could be toned down a bit.

Beautiful colors and lights. I like the leg color as it pops up of the muddy bg.
Images also tells something of the feeding behavior. Good one. :)

A few observations: I think the image was well done overall. However I have to disagree about the muddy bill. Indeed it does tell alot about the feeding behavior, but unless it was specifically photographed to illustrate plovers feeding habits in lets say, a magazine article, IMO I don't think it is an asset. Certainly not helpfull in species identification, since we can't see the bill. Look, I take alot of bird images on mud flats, and I have many images ruined by mud, streaked on the bill, or with mud streaked on the feathers, and I may be over sensitive. No, I am oversensative. Sure, I do get the same birds, eventually, more presentable. For example, I do think that a pristine white ibis is a much better image that one with mud all over the bill and streaked on the feathers. The image here is not nearly as extreme, but along the same lines, and this is only my opinon, of course, just another point of view.
    regards~Bill
