    Working on a book on prairie dogs I had the honor of shooting a dutiful father Burrowing Owl.

    D300, 500/f4 + 1.7TC, 800, f6.3, ISO 400, beanbag out car window.

    Wonderfull backlight and great exposure control, nice pose, detail, BG, comp and colors, I would only suggest to darken a tad the Owl.

    Very nice looking photo Jared. I really like the inclusion of the habitat. The owl seems a bit too light on my monitor also. Dave

    Nice capture under challenging back/side lighting conditions, Jared.

    A minor adjustment I'd suggest, would be to tone down the bright hotspot on the lower back feathers.

    The eye contact, and facial expression is just the best!

    Ditto Ramon on darkening. I would also sharpen a bit more. Great one well done on this
