    Greetings Everyone,
Here is a shot of the first horned owl of the season for me. Just taken at 9:00pm this evening.

    Stats: Canon 50D, ISO 800, 500mm F/4L, f/6.3 at 1/5 of a second.

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve

Great sharpness for the slow SS. A slight contrast boost and a little warming may be an option

Good sharpness for the shutter speed you had - the owl must have been standing pretty darn still :-) I still wouldn't mind another selective round of sharpening to the face. Tony's repost brings it closer inline colour-wise but there is still a collish cast on the head and upper body. You can try desaturating the blue and cyan channel I wouldn't mind seeing another round of sharpenings completely down - this should get rid of the unwanted blues.

    Hi Tony and Daniel,
Thanks for your comments on my photo. I almost needed a flash light to see this guy as he was in the deep underbrush and the light was failing quickly. Here is a repost with a little more room around the outside, a slight color warming and another round of USM.

    Thanks,

    Steve
