This is pretty darn cool! Great pose, perch, and cloudy BG. Well done :-)

Great composition but those ruffled feathers really make the image IMO. What a superb catch!

Killer composition Kobus. Very well executed. Terrific and dramatic background, fantastic perch (very well placed in the frame) and fantastic pose of the bird. I love this image, one of the best that I have seen from you. I love it but I couldn´t resist to reprocess it in PS because I think that it has a lot of potential to work with it. If you select the BG and have a look at the histogram you well see that you have lots of empty space in the left side of the histogram and that mean that the Bg is a bit overexposed or, in other words, you have a lot of room to tone down the BG and increase the dramatism of the image. The BG is mostly blue or cold while the bird is really warm (specially the red areas in the face) and that is a perfect combination to increase contrast and dramatism.
Congratulations for a very good job :-)

You never know till you try! :D I would make it darker but shift the brighter area to the right, behind the subject, to pull the eye more to that side of
the image. There's also room to brighten the branch and subject a bit to further heighten the contrast.

Excellent composition, Kobus. The background and the perch makes it for me. I like the variations with the dark background and all are good.

Great comp and pose, Kobus. I like your repost (very similar to Juan's). David's is a bit too dark for my taste - though very dramatic. You have lots of options here and much of it boils down to personal taste. :) Well done.

Awesome image. I like David's repost. The sun made this image excellent (and of course you ;) )

Terrific subject, composition and mood. I like the darker reposts, and it is a big winner IMO, congratulations.

Great composition, pose, light and perch. The slightly darker version looks best to me.
