Overcast light and a tree to add to the spotlight effect made for an image I'm really happy with. I always find snake awkward to compose for unless they coil so i was quite happy this guy obliged. Also one of the first taken with my new Tamron 180 macro, man this thing is nice and sharp.

    5d2, Tamron 180
    Lens (mm): 180
    ISO: 640
    Aperture: 4.5
    Shutter: 1/2000
I wish I had paid attention to shutter speed a bit more and knocked down iso but the 5d2 sure makes it not a big deal.

Very nice lines to this. Spotlight really adds to this image. Well exposed and seen.

Another plus comment on the visual lines. I also like the color, detail, and the alternating focused/OOF body.

It is nice and sharp! I also like the curves and the colors. A bit more room on the left?

Paul, this is really sharp, and I like the warm colours and detail in this. 9 out of 10, we would want more room to slither into, but I feel this comp works as is. Well done.

    Paul,
This is nice. Lovely colours. I like the composition. It is sharp as well. I might have been tempted to use a narrow aperture as you had ample shutter speed to play with.

    Cheers,

The soft lighting, awesome curl to the snakes body, and the background pattern really make this a wonderful image. It's beautiful Paul.

Beautiful image, Paul. My eye wants to linger on the snake, but I feel my attention being pulled upward by the strong diagonals of the plant. Could you see a crop from the top, which I think would allow me to focus more on the snake?

Love the way this guy is looking at you. Patterns on the BG are nice as well.

Love the light, the setting, and the narrow focus right on the eye. Sweet indeed.
