Capture made near home here in Sacramento. I had to do some fairly severe NR but I'm happy with this at 1600 ISO! This is a fairly heavy crop. PP'ed in ACR and CS3, NR with Noise Ninja.

    Camera Model: NIKON D300, handheld
    Shutter speed: 1/4000 sec
    Aperture: 22
    Exposure mode: Manual
    Flash: Off
    Metering mode: Multi-segment
    ISO: 1600
    Lens: 80 to 400mm
    Focal length: 400mm

    Hi Dan.
Interesting shot, can I ask why you set the app at 22 fore this shot?
I think the BG can do with another run of NN still a bit of noise visible.
I like the traces of detail on the birds feathers.

Hi Dave, I was shooting into the very bright setting sun with the bird on a perch as he took flight

I like the idea and would darken the bird even more. The NR result doesn't look good, how did you do this?

Axel, I just ran Noise Ninja with the dafault nr setting minus the sharpening. I think that when I viewed the image in PS, it wasn't at 100%. I can see what you mean. I will revisit this one. thanks
