    Default Dragonfly

The first dragonfly I've photographed this year. Dragonflies are one of my favorite insects to photograph, partly because they tend to be willing to sit still :)! This one was sitting on the wall of one of our goat sheds. Any C&C are welcome!

    Olympus SP-550 UZ
    f4.5 @ 1/50, ISO 100
Aperture priority, pattern metering, sunny WB
Processed in PS CS2; cropped, curves adjustment, slight saturation increase, shadow/highlight, some noise reduction, and cloned out a few spots on its eye

Nice one, Christopher! Wow...the detail in the face is incredible! What is killing me is the fact that he looks like he's sleeping...so cool.

Love the selective DOF. I do wish the BG was all board but that's a minor thing. I think you did a great job on this one!

Thanks Julie and Al for your comments!

Julie, I agree with you on the BG, but I don't think he would have allowed me to move him :).

Interesting how apparent the dof line is across the board.
This would be a great teaching image
