Just wanted to check in. Have been to Yosemite for four days and have just got around to some editing. I am using a laptop and a new program (Aperture) so I am not sure how the editing will look. I hope you enjoy it. C & C appreciated, thanks.

I have also been to San Francisco, and I am going to Hearst Castle, Morro Bay, and some other places in California. I would recommend Yosemite, it is really beautiful.

was it foggy or hazy when you took this photo? On my monitor, it doesn't seem as sharp as is typical for your images. I really like the depth in your scene, and the interesting sky. I might try a different cropping, going tighter on the waterfall. I would try a pano crop removing most of the large portion of trees, and a lot off the right side. Neither of those sections add much interest for me to the photo. I would rather concentrate on the great left side, the waterfall, and the far distance between them. All in all, I do really like the image. Great lighting.

Jackie, I love that you got Halfdome in the BG. I think the scenery in Yosemite is amazing and you captured it beautifully.almost looks like it could be a painting.

HI Jackie - lovely scene - looks a tad flat on my screen, for my tastes it needs a bit of a contrast boost - would also maybe darken the sky down a little to add some drama there.

I would crop about 1/3 from the bottom to give it more of a pano feel - will also bring the focus more to the moutains rather than the bright patch of tress in the fg.

    Keep them coming :)

    Hi Lady Jackie,
I love the capture and the composition...I would suggest on kicking up the saturation and contrast just a tad...looking forward to your next one...

Thanks for all your suggestions, as I mentioned I am working on my laptop so I don't have Photoshop. I took multiple exposures so will do a blend when I get home and perhaps wait til I get home to post some more. This was my first attempt at using Aperture for Mac and it doesn't have nearly the same features as Photoshop.

    .... I think you found Ansel's tripod holes :)

Just the contrast boost and play with the clouds !!! Fine image Jackie !!!!

Aperture is very capable and the newer versions do work well. I bought the original and gave up before 1.4 came out.... it was sluggish and clunky so went to LR. Have used the current and like it a lot !! btw if you are near an Apple Superstore you can get instructions ... awesome !!!

Thanks Al, I know it is nothing original, but what a view. It is hard to believe that El Capitan (the rock on the left) and Half Dome (far in the distance) are actually nine miles apart. This view really did take my breath away. Ansel was on to a good thing:) Thanks for the tip about the superstore, will check it out tomorrow:)

i love this as presented, jackie. the lack of contrast gives it a softer feel with sharp details. i wouldnt crop the bottom because i like the way the triangle of light ends down in the bottom left. i really like this. i gotta see this on my big monitor. might change my mind, but nice job!!

Beautiful image Jackie. Up the contrast a wee bit and a minor crop and you have a wall hanger!! Enjoy your trip! Richard

Great image Jackie. I also see it a little flat, although I'm using my laptop.
Hope you're having a great time.

Tried a rework. Still getting used to Aperture, hope this looks a little better. Think I have the monitor calibrated
more accurately and I applied some more sharpening.
