This is Tazlina from the Wolf Sanctuary here in Maine. She has been a little aggressive lately, going through a false pregnancy. She dug a den, "guarded" her invisible pups and drove everyone away from even the fenced in enclosure. So I had to take this image from inside the air lock as she even tried to stalk me. Denali died last January at 14 years of age, pretty old for a captive wolf. The owners are placing several older and 1 more aggressive wolf with another place in New York soon. Money is tight up here and not much in the way of donations are coming in to help out.
This is 85 % of frame here and makes a 9x12 print. the background was dappled light falling in the trees. the place needs a trim in the worst way. But I am going to keep this one. She may not be around much longer.

Hi Grady, I like the wolf alot and your conversion to b/w.The sharpness and exposure seems right on. I would prefer the foot not being covered by the rock but it's minor looking at the whole. If this were mine I would try and take out what looks like fencing in the upper backround and the hot area on the left about 1/3rd up. Good capture!
Another nice portrait of this gal. Sorry to here of the loss of Denali and all of the issues the reserve is having. B/W conversion looks good, adree with taming the hotspots a little if possible.
Nice B/W conversion. I'd also like to see the color version as the wolf's eyes are so mesmerizing. A very nice portrait. I'd also take a crack at minimizing/removing the evidence of the fence and hotspots even further.
