I recently set up a bird area in my yard in New Jersey. I have lots of branches and most are set up in an area with a good background that is easily blurred. I realize the background and the metal post in this image are not desirable, but I really liked the colors of the bird. Thought I would get others opinions and suggestions for improvement. Thanks!

Hi Nick - Like the HA and the pose - good colours also.
Feels a little tight to me LHS & RHS. Some bright spots on the white feathers on the back - a Mulitpy layer will probably help rescue some of the detail.
Multiple catchlights in the eye, also a easy fix if you are so inclined.
Hi Nick,
I like the capture, it does feel a little tight all the way around...I would run a low level pass of noise reduction in the background...loking forward to your next one...
Great points and fully agree !!! For the noise you might try enlarging the image to actual pixels and examining. Sometimes is difficult seeing the noise at normal size. Lots of it in the bird and bg !!! Can't avoid it at the selected ISO but did real well in selecting since you need the speed .... and speed wise do try going wide open since dof will not help when there is camera movement !!!
