This friendly New Zealand Robin surprised me by perching a couple of metres away next to a bush track on Kapiti Island, New Zealand.

    Canon 400D, EF70-200mm f/4 IS @ 200mm, built-in flash, handheld, ISO 200, 1/60, f/4, vertical crop from horizontal image.

A cute little guy.....complete with whiskers. For me, he's a little tight in the frame. Since this was from a horizontal crop, you could recrop and then add some room to the top. Nice detail in this guy.

I like the eye contact and whiskers. I agree with Lana regarding a wider crop, would selectively sharpen the head and remove the white spots on the perch. I might also remove the bright spot on the left.

Good advice from both above me. I like the "deep woods" feel to this. Good sharpness considering the techs. Did you consider raising the ISO?

I love the alert pose and whiskers :)
It feels tight to me too.
Will be looking forward to more.

Wonderful image Simon. I like the eye contact and details. Excellent work given the low light.
