This Colobus monkey image was created in Samburu, Kenya. The Colobus is noted for not having thumbs. We saw a number of them but found them challenging to photograph because of the dense tree tops we found most of them in. I got lucky with this one. Hope you like my image. C and C welcome, I'm here to learn. - John

Compelling face and you did luck out with the setting. Complementing bg !!

Tech wise would have used a higher ISO for better shutter speed !!! A tighter image showing less of the bottom tree would have worked for me also but do like it a lot as presented !!!

    John,
Interesting species. I like the way the branches lead the eye into the image. I agree about the need for a higher ISO here. I would love to have a closer composition of the head. Thanks for sharing.

Nice portrait John. Did you underexpose this by chance? I find the darks a little noisy. Fixable I am sure and that little bright patch in the top left corner. :)

This is a hard subject to expose with the dark and white fur. I love the facial expression. I also see the noise in the dark areas. Looks like either a bit of under exposure or a large crop. Still a great image as presented.

A nice looking, but hard to expose subject given teh conditions you describe. The darks look pretty noisy and lacking in detail. However, that being said, I like the pose, subject, and surroundings and think this is an excellent image to do some "artistic" playing around with. I'd bet you could come up with some interesting interpretations of this one if you enjoy that kind of processing.
