I drove to my favorite spot this morning, parked and looked in the trunk -- forgot my camera. Curses! So, here is an image from a couple days ago. As you see, this Song Sparrow (I think) is a bit bedraggled, even with one (blown) feather sticking out above its tail. The image was adjusted completely in Lightroom.

this looks great, wendell. nice pose and perch. i thought it have a color cast, but checked it and it doesnt. you can darken the entire image just a little and give it a slight contrast boost and will look better. i set the black and white points in CNX2 and that did the trick. my only problem was that when i saved it, it totally changed the colors. never had that happen. tried it three different times in different color management schemes and nothing worked. anyone got any clues?

    nice job!

Great points by Harold !!! Don't now if its placement or shutter speed but image looks a little soft Lots of magnification for that slow speed !!!

btw I when switch to Canon a few months back remember going out to Anhinga Trail to do some testing and forgot the camera :) Fortunately had a friend that loaned me his back up !!! Might be the first time for me !!!

The pose looks fine but the image on my monitor appears a bit washed out, thus the bird's feathers seem to lack some definition.

    Nice eye contact and pose

I agree on the colors, almost looks sepia toned?

    Hi Wendell,
Agree with the good advise given...I like the capture, head angle and eye contact...would suggest on boosting the saturation just a tad...looking forward to your next one...

I took you advice, Harold, and that improves the presentation a lot. Thanks to all for your C&C . . .

My camera regularly goes from home to car trunk, etc.. Fortunately, it was only a twenty-minute drive to my destination. My wife and I had a good laugh when I returned "empty handed."

Hi Wendell - all good advice above - agree that a bit of Saturation boost would improve it a lot.
    Nice pose :)
