I would like to think this is the same bird i photographed in Northern Ohio. However this was shot on Ambergris Caye,Belize(an island off coast of Belize) several weeks earlier.
I was scouting this water feature when this bird appeared. The perch was not a setup(that came later) and not ideal with acute angle at end. During the next several days there I shot a good many NA birds(at least we think they are ours although they spend half time in tropics). Photography under canopy of tropic woods has many problems of its own-including darkness and the worst are bright beams of sun hitting small spots in the photograph.
Self critique-
I know ,I know -the background is not perfectly smooth being a combination of rock and tropical leves with sunlight. It did have a certain -what is that behind the bird quality ? Trying to illustrate a point "our" birds are not really ours.
