Met Maxis this morning out at Venice Rookery, and we experienced at wonderful day of image creation. Good light, No wind, and not too many photographers either. I don't expect that will last long, however, as one nest has chicks up already. This poor fellow seems to be the last single GBH out there. It's not through lack of effort, though. He put on this display for us all morning long, and basically chased everyone else away from his nesting area. Enjoy!
Canon 1DsMII, ef 600mm f/4, ISO 200, 1/1000, f/4. Had to clone out one annoying stick from the bush, but that's about it. This is about an 11mp crop in the original. Although his chin appears a bit hot here, it isn't on the full size. there is perfect detail in the white.
