Canon EF 500 mm drop-in filter holder

Can anyone confirm which way the holder goes in or does it matter? There's writing on one side of the folder- does that go towards the back or front of the lens? Depending on which way, it does effect where the filter sits as it is offset on the holder. One way it's a little closer to the front than the other.

Hi John, my 500 f4 manual says "The filter holder can be installed facing either forwards or backwards" Mine is fitted with the writing to the front :)

I can confirm what Tell said, it does not matter which way the holder goes in.
