I am finally back to Canada after a long and amazing journey. I spent my final week in Ecuador in the Amazon and it was a fantastic experience. Here is one of the little beauties that I really wanted to photograph there. This was a really difficult bird to photograph so I was extremely happy to come away with this one.

Its good to be home :)

    Camera Model: Canon EOS 50D
    Shutter speed: 1/40 sec
    Aperture: 5.6
    Flash: On
    ISO: 400
    Focal length: 500mm + 1.4x

I have also posted a load of new photos, a new journal entry and also a final video blog here - http://www.glennbartley.com/natureph...y/ecuador.html

Cool bird, good exposure control, details and eye contact. The angle is a bit steep but I would have been glad to see this bird, too.

Beautiful catch Glenn. These sure are gorgeous little birds, I saw and photographed them in the Brazilian Amazon.

What a cool-looking bird Glenn! Glad you were able to photograph one before heading home. Excellent sharpness. The angle is a bit steep, and the perch is a little big for the bird, but it's still a fine shot!

Great sighting, and this guy must be fairly small. Excelent exposure on two difficult colours, and like the detail.

I wish the bird to be lower, but this is still a very nice image, great light, detail, colors, BG, and pose. Big congratulations.
