    Default Black Oystercatcher

Lots of shorebird posts recently - here is another. This Black Oystercatcher was photographed on a wet sand beach at low tide in Oregon. I elevated my tripod a bit above ground level to prevent getting the white breaking waves in the background. 40D, 300 f/4 + 1.4X, 1/2500, f/6.3, ISO 400. I removed a couple of distracting items from the background as well as some specular highlights from the legs and beak. Comments are welcome.

Nice and clean, I like the setting, light and eye contact. My 300/f4 with TC attached gets a bit sharper when stopped down to f/8.

Very nice......and a shorebird that I'd like to see someday. I love the simplicity and the colors. Good thinking in the placement of the camera for the image. Well done.

Steve, excellent exposure on the blacks, with good detail. I like the pastel colours in the BG. My favourate marine bird.

Simple but effective. I like the faintly visible ripples in the wet sand/water.
