    The showy male is fun to photograph but the female has her own beauty. The tendrils near her tail are a problem.

    Nikon D700, Nikon 500mm f/4. Nikon Teleconverter 14TC-EII
    ISO 400, 1/360s, EV -0.33, Focal length 700, f/5.6

    The tendrits are not much of problem for me -- the cobwebs add a little to the picture. Singing pose is great and background complements the bird. Good job

    I like the singing pose and eye contact. There seems to be a lack of fine detail, is it a heavy crop? If not, how did you sharpen the bird? Good to see the female, there haven't been many posts of female painted buntings.

    It was a pretty big crop, Axel. I liked the pose so much I couldn't pass it up.
