    Default Crested Serpent Eagle

    Hi all,
    caught this fella first perched on the lamp post then flew down to the tree about 3.5m height from the ground. it was captured by my sony alpha 100 with 500mm f/8 mirror lens. sorry i do not have the EXIF with me right now as I'm in my office. can always forward in future if you need it. BTW, your c&c or improve/reprocess this image is welcome.. thanks for viewing.:):cool:

    Wolly, that is a nice looking bird you photographed (do you know the species?) For me the complex background does detract from the overall effectiveness. In particular the thicker branch that runs partially through the birds head/beak is a distraction. Situations like this can be very frustrating to us photographers...birds don't always give us clean backgrounds! Do you ever see him lower where you can get closer to eye level? He sounds like an urban bird that may provide you some wonderful future opportunities as well!

    Hi Judd,
    Thanks for your comments. The scientific name of this eagle is Spilornis cheela. I was told that this eagle is a threatened species here in Singapore. I captured this fella by luck when I was driving heading toward the highway in one morning about 7.30am - spotted this fella perching on the lamp post. will show you more pictures if you wish - please let me know. I do agree with you that birds don't always give us a clean backgrounds. Hardly seen them at lower level here.
