Went out yesterday to find kirtlands and had pretty good luck in my little hotspot, but we had frost and the winds were in excess of 40 miles an hour so they hop to the top of a jack pine and get blown off so they stayed low out of the wind and not much singing due to cold weather. I sure hope it warms up to the 70's soon.

A pretty fellow, who posed nicely for you.
Very sharp, perhaps verging on oversharpened for my taste. The histogram does show some blow pixels in the yellow on the throat, and in the yellows in upper right corner. Contrast is pretty high, and backing that down a smidge would help with the highlights.
From a comp. standpoint, I would like a bit more space to the left, and crop off just a bit from the right.
Would consider toning down the bright needles above his head, and the bunch in the RUC.
Thanks for sharing. Warmer weather should be on the way!
Curly,
Thanks for sharing this image of such a rare bird. Randy's comments seem spot on. Do you ever act as a guide? We spent many summers in the area where these birds hang out, but were notabley unsuccessful in finding them.
