Still sorting through images from my March trip to Morro Bay, CA.

Interested to hear your opinion about the blurred legs : asset or detriment?
Looking forward to your comments and critiques !

Great naturalm oment captured with woderfull light, lovely comp, pose, colors and detail, I like the blurred legs, it is not often to see an image like this, completely frozen would've been what I would have expected and this one, really catch my eye, I do like, it does work IMO. Congratulations!

Mike, super low angle, and I like the light in this. Lovely detail and colours, sharp, and like the OOF BG. His catch a bonus. IMHO, I would have prefered the legs to be in focus. With one foot off the ground, it still shows motion.

    Mike:

I agree with Stuart, that I would prefer the legs to be sharper. The water gives a sense of action in the scene, and the raised foot does too, as Stuart pointed out.

I do appreciate Ramon's point of view, but for me, sharper legs work better here.

    Lovely image.

Another vote for sharper legs, but still a keeper. Great frozen detail in the body and catch. Dreamy BG.

Fantastic light and sharpness on the body. The crab is a huge bonus, perfect head angle as well. Can't make up my mind about the legs? Wonderful background as well

Another wonderful image of this species Mike. The OOF legs are insiginificant to me, as the rest of the image has it all. The crab puts it over the top.

BTW, I stopped in at Morro Bay/Beach in April and could not find one Long-billed Curlew in the area. I specifically stopped there because of all your great shots of this species. Unfortunately, when I got there it was VERY cold and VERY windy, and all I could find were Whimbrel and Marbled Godwits :)

Tim: the curlews are here in Morro Bay during the winter. By April most of the Curlews, and Sanderlings have already migrated. BTW, The mornings are usually calm, and the afternoons windy. You will always find more birds and less people in the morning. The best area for photography is a the end of the beach, around 5 miles from the rock, so it is best to use a different entrance.
