    Default 5D MKII Replacement Batteries-Caution

I have started to see off brand versions of the 5DMKII battery (LP-E6) available online but they all seem to come with a charger. Some of replacement batteries must be charged with the included charger. Most of the batteries I have seen online also state the charge remaining will not be displayed in camera. I would go cautiously with replacement batteries for the 5DMKII

I have always used Canon batteries as my first choice....and have been satisfied. I have also been happy with Delkin NP-E3 and BP511 Batteries...

I have always heard that not using OEM batteries is a bad idea.

I had one try with an ebay NP-E3 back when the MKII was new--It did not fit right. I have been happy with the Delkins I have used too. I was initially reluctant to use the Delkins but I bought an NP-E3 from Artie when I forgot a battery one year on a trip...It worked fine.

Delkins are OK but these off-brand versions are a total crap shoot. I always go OEM.

Deep down I prefer OEM but I have bought the Delkins for convenience (I work 40 minutes from Artie's place) and availability. It doesn't really make sense to try and save $20 or $50 when I have a $4000 Camera and a $7000 lens with an ebay replacement battery...

I meant to say "I always go OEM." not also go OEM. Agree with you here Rocky. Big $$$$ on the camera and lens only to have the 2 cent battery die on you does not make a lot of sense.

Right, although Canon was initially gouging with the 5D II battery--originally $140. Have you seen this battery? Now it trades at $95, which is still way overpriced. Adorama is coming out with a $45 replacement (under their own brand), but it's not in stock yet...I wouldn't go with an eBay $15 knock-off that might catch fire under the wrong conditions, but third party isn't always a bad idea.
I still have a Camera Devices battery that I use for my Mk II N and prefer it over the OEM battery as it lasts a lot longer.
