    Default Tri-Horned Heron

    This tricolored heron sat down close to me at Gatorland. The wind gave him a devilish look! A bit centered and left side of head in shadow. All comments welcome.

    Haha, love the pose. I might give him more room up top. Great job getting the focus on the eyes.

    This screams vertical, wish you had a better light angle and more DOF for the crest.
    Critical focus seems to be on the neck, though.

    Mike:

    good advice above. I find the contrast a bit high, and the whites in the crest and some of the blues on the beak are showing as blow when checked in NX2.

    You can tame some of the contrast with a reverse S curve adjustment, and tease out a little more detail on the left side with shadow recovery. It tends to turn a bit too blue if you push the recovery too hard, but there is room for improvement.

    A wild and crazy looking bird.
