    Default Landing Gear Down

Last week in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada I was shooting Eagles waiting for the float plane to take me into the interior to photograph Grizzlies. The bears were fine, and so was this immature Bald Eagle just about to land on a post.

    Canon 1Ds III, 500 f4 +1.4.

Great timing to catch this pose. Maybe a little less on the right and more on the left to move the bird off centre.

Nice action capture Jeffrey. Love the intense stare you get with landing images like this although it is often not possible to get an optimal head angle or more eye contact at the same time. I tried lightening and sharpening the eye area a little in Photoshop and it worked well.

Hi Jeffrey, good to see you "Mr Landscape".....quite a beautiful image for a 'scaper.
Hope you are enjoying the wildlife tour. Took liberty of doing a quick rework with
above mentioned items and a slight crop.....just another option(I have way too much time to play)
Congrats on a wonderful image sir.

BTW, you are using a ColorMatch Profile, not sure how that presents in all browsers

afterthought.....I recall you don't prefer others reworking your images

I like the landing pose and BG and agree with Tony regarding putting the bird further to the right in the frame.

Beautiful rich color here. I love the look of power in this landing photo.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, I am still new to BIF, and feel that this is tremendous progress for me. Since this is a crop of the original, I can try the suggested alternate placement of the bird.

Dave, thanks for your comments. I remember discussing the reworking of other's images, and I am not against it. Feelings change from month to month. Your observations are spot on, since I did lighten and sharpen the eye for the print version. The jpeg didn't display that detail very well. A while ago I did experimentation to compare the accuracy of colormatch vs sRGB. I found nearly no difference, but I thought I liked the colormatch look slightly better. It has been a part of my jpegging action for years, with no negative impact.

Jeffrey, do the comparison in color managed and non color managed browsers......there is significant difference IMO.
Non color managed will show your colormatch with more pop, uses a lower gamma I believe. However many
of us are using color managed these days. If it's working for you, that's all that really matters
Anyway, I seem to be the sRGB Police.....seeing non conversions every day. Be well and have a great week,
    always love you great images
