This image was captured a couple of years ago (pre-DSLR for me!) at a botanical garden on the coast of Oregon, just north of Bandon. The camera was a Canon S2-IS. 15.2mm, f/4@125 sec, evaluative metering set at -1/3. :)
Hi Kerry With most red images is best to lower saturation a few points. The camera just does it all on its own !!
Ideally with these you want to use a diffuser or polarizer do reduce glare, do like dof from that camera, on of the best features !!!! You can use a plug in like Focal Point to blur the outside of the flower some, really isolates the subject !! My Desktop in on the shop and don't have it installed in the laptop otherwise would re post and show you. btw can do in PS without it just takes a long time and work !!!
Kerry, I like your idea here w/ the water and the details on the leaves are very nice-Agree w/ Alfred's advice. Focal point is a good program-Fabs uses it alot w/ fantastic results!!
