    Default Standing Tall...

This fledgling Osprey was photographed from my SUV as it sat atop a yellow boat cover. Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens with the EOS-50D. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +2/3 stop: 1/1250 sec. at f/8. Lens supported by the BLUBB (BAA Big Lens Ultimate BeanBag).

Not sure what he was interested in....

Cool pose, exposure control and details. I would run NR on the BG.

Interesting look on this Osprey Artie...

I don't see the BG noise on my monitor and the only thing I might have done would have been to lighten the shadowed eye just a hair.

Hard to believe their head could look so narrow. I love the intense eye contact and pose.

I would lighten it's right eye and the white colors in the brow area above.

I like the intense stare...sharpness..not often do I see these birds so low...personally I might try to clone out shadow of beak, and adjust the eye color, nice as presented

I really like that head on stare. Great eye contact and very clean image.

I love the simple composition and the fantastic stare of that gloden eyes. I think that some additional processing job on th left eye to add more light would produce and even better result. I like it a lot.
BTW, it was really funny to see you in the cover of National Geographic :D

Thanks all especially Axel. I reduced the contrast, lightened the shaded side of the face, and ran NR on the BKGR. I like it much better now.

I love the eye contact in this one, Artie, and the excellent feather detail from that distance.
