Taken in Yellowstone NP using a Canon EOS 3 with a Sigma 300-800mm lens on a tripod with a Wimberly head. Film used was Kodak E100VS. Exposures and settings unrecorded (sorry).
That is some beautiful light, I remember getting this in my film days once a year or so! It has a wonderful feeling to it, it glows. The only critical comment I have is that I wish there was more room in the frame above his tines. E100VS was a killer film.
Hi Guys,
I do agree with the comment of more room on top. I just checked the slide and I do have some room to add at the top after I remove it from the mount. This isn't an issue with digital........but now that I've switched......I do miss those VS colors!
Thanks for the input,
Roman
Well captured Roman. It must be very exciting to photograph these big boys in the wild. Along with a touch more room on top I wish that the elk's left eye was just a little brighter.
I'd still be pleased to have this in my collection.
Yes the vibrant (alsmost to vibrant at times) colors of VS. Very dramatic lighting to work with here. Nice alert look from the elk. More room on top of the frame as mentioned would help..
Makes me think of a Frans Lanting image.....this is very similar to the style of image that he is known for (at least he's who I think of when I see a photo like this). The lighting is wonderful and mysterious. It would be nice to have a bit more room along the top.
