Photographed May 27th and around 6pm EST. Canon 40D, Canon 400mm f/5.6L, AV Mode, partial metering, ISO 200, f/7.1, 1/400, hand held but supported, full frame.
Sorry about the hand of man in the image (my swing in the backyard) but I couldn't resist as she stretched.
Hi, Duane:
Nice and sharp, good detail in the feathers. The light was harsh and yes, it is unfortunate about the perch. I feel this one is too tight and would like to see more room on the top and sides and as little perch as possible.
Thanks for sharing.
I like the details and pose. I agree regarding more room, especially in front of the bird. Could you have moved higher to include the foot? That way you could have cropped more off the bottom.
Problems well noted above. Cool wing stretch. Good job with the EXp in the harsh light with the BLACK BKGR.

Thank you Susan, Axel and Arthur for the criqitues. I was in my truck using it as a blind and actually was set up on a House Wren building a nest so this Dove was an after thought. I tried a crop to include as little of the perch as possible but felt the bird sat too low in the frame.
Can someone explain your meaning on "harsh light" because within 45 minutes there was no light (hence the shadows in the BG).
